O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP) — Runway 9L-27R Extension and Associated Taxiway

PROJECT OWERVIEW

About This Project

As part of the O’Hare Modernization Program, Accurate Group played a critical role in preparing plans for the Chicago O’Hare International Airport Runway 9L-27R Paving, Lighting, and Signing project — reconfiguring the runway to reduce delays and increase airfield capacity. The runway, at 7,500 feet in length and 150 feet in width, was designed to accommodate Group V aircraft with wingspans up to 214 feet.

The project entailed construction of a full-length parallel taxiway and associated high-speed and crossover taxiways, along with clearing, grubbing, earthwork, and paving to integrate new pavements with existing infrastructure.

The scope also included runway and taxiway underdrains, local drainage systems, and electrical work, along with pavement grooving, surface applications, marking, topsoil, seed/sod placement, and erosion control — ensuring the safety, durability, and sustainability of the newly constructed infrastructure.
